The Huang Family, proud owner of Dynasty Chinese Restaurant in Temple, follow three basic rules which have helped them become one of the best white tablecloth dining experiences in the Central Texas area. The first is Product Consistency, followed by Quality Service and Family Atmosphere.
These ideas were brought from Taipei, Taiwan by Chef David Huang to a restaurant called Blue Hawaii in the Washington DC area in 1972. The restaurant expanded to a second location in 1974 and Chef Huang became Master Chef Huang. In 1977, he opened China Garden followed in 1980 by Ming's Garden in Baltimore, Md, a 3 1/2 Star restaurant. In 1983, he saw an opportunity in the city of Austin and opened China Garden. The Austin American Statesman rated the establishment a 3 1/2 Star dining experience. In 1985, he looked for an established community with growth potential. In 1986, he moved the family to a location in downtown Temple. In 1991, they needed more space, so they acquired the former Golden Dragon location on Airport Road and have not looked back since.
At the time, the Temple area was craving hot and spicy Oriental food. There were only two other Chinese restaurants in Temple at the time, and Dynasty's unique flavor profile set them apart. In fact, they were the first to bring to the Temple area the spicy favorite, General Tso's Chicken.
Of their 30 employees, 10 are family members. Harry Huang, David's younger brother, makes it a point to personally greet everyone coming into the restaurant. Many of the patrons are on a first-name basis.
Dynasty Chinese Restaurant offers fine dine-in with a great selection of menu or buffet items at affordable prices. Take-out and delivery are also available. You can call in your order or you can even order your food online. Dynasty is changing with the times to better serve their clientele.
